Our interest in the different design education systems in America and Britain has come from a number of sources, especially from our personal experiences as British students whilst abroad.
Our course at Brighton includes a series of lectures by ex-graduates who have been working in all areas of the design industry. These lecturers ranged from people who had graduated only a few years previously to individuals who have worked as designers for over 40 years.
It has been invaluable to us to hear these people speak, helping us to develop an awareness of the progression from student to professional and the stages and lessons on the way. Hearing advice from people who have been educated on the same course has fueled our interest in our own education and how this will affect our future in the industry.
